To expand our education footprint in China and leverage the increasing emphasis on paid education in China and also to strengthen our brand equity among students, parents and schools, in 2005 we acquired three private schools located in Anqing, Anhui province; Pingdingshan, Henan province and Jingzhou, Hubei province, respectively.
Anqing Foreign Language School
Anqing Foreign Language School (AFLS) is a private school licensed to operate independently. The school carries out a philosophy of blending the best of Eastern and Western teaching methods with an emphasis in English language training. Ranked the number one school in the region, AFLS has established a strong reputation among students and teachers.
By September 2008, ChinaEdu had successfully built a new Eastern campus for the school. Together with the existing western campus, the school covers an area of over 250 Chinese acres. The teaching and living buildings combined occupy approximately 10,000 square meters. The school has also increased the program to include 103 classes for over 2500 students.
Pingdingshan Weilun Bilingual School
Also ranked a top high school in the region, Pingdingshan Weilun Bilingual School has operated for almost 40 years. Currently, the school offers 38 classes to approximately 1600 students and has over 160 faculty members. The school is approved by the National Foreign Experts Ministry to hire foreign teachers and is a member of the National Foreign School Association. Set in a beautiful location, the school covers an area of 70 Chinese acres and a construction area of 16,000 square meters.
Jingzhou Middle School, Hubei Province
Established in 1711, Jingzhou Middle School is one of the seven key schools in Hubei Province. With its almost 300-year legacy, the school boasts a rich cultural heritage and a lush green campus. The school covers 94,000 square meters with over 20 buildings. Jingzhou Middle School currently offers 58 classes to over 3500 students and approximately 240 faculty members. The school also boasts an impressive alumni list including biologist Peng Shanchi, economist Zhang Fengbo, writer Li Chaohong and medical experts Song Shanjun and Hong Guangxiang.
